I am thinking the same thing now, Can I put my Pleco outside in the Koi Spa/pond? We're going to heat the pond and have a highly insulated pump/sump filter house. It can get down to -20° F in Northern New Mexico.
Can a common pleco survive in coldwater?

I had a small 2" common pleco in a tank with no heater outside for 2 years before I gave him up. I've come to realize that each individual fish is different so it's really up to u if u want to test the waters
plecos are from the Amazon (TROPICAL) they cannot thrive like goldfish do. They have to be brought in except maybe in the deep south
