Can a red eared slider live in a 55 gallon tank for life????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks guys, I am going to clean the tank later today. he is full grown. he is 8 inches. so a full grown RES is living in a 30 gallon tank. Hate it that we can't get a bigger tank immediately. i think if you do not have proper faculties for your animal you should not have the animal. all my fish have appropriate tank sizes. My parents think some of my tanks are understocked. i feel sorry for animals living in poverty. do you have to cycle a turtle tank with all the ammonia nitrite and nitrate stuff. do you cycle the tank the same way as tropical fish? i am guessing you do. just wanted to make shore.

No, you don't have to cycle a turtle's tank.

If you can't afford an aquarium now you can always pick up a large rubbermaid tub from Walmart for like $10 and it will provide more room than that 30 gallon.

Just get lots of mechanical filtration. You don't have to cycle the tank, but poor conditions will result in stuff like shell fungus.

I told him about that. He said that he did not want something ugly min his house. i think it would look nicer because it would be cleaner.
