1. Dorsal is too long to be ocellifer.

2. Adipose fin is too small to be ocellifer.

3. Body is too long and narrow to be ocellifer.

4. Caudal fin is spotted. Ocellifer is more striped.

Hybrid.

You have a very good eye, well done. I too would have guessed Ocellifer like red devil. Wich sp. do you think they have used to make this hybrid? Eupterus?

Yes, I think likely ocellifer X euptera.

Okay,so you've seemingly debunked the whole Ocellifer theory but I'm not so quick to hang my hat on this fish being a hybrid. It just may be a hybrid but there are so many different synos out there.

Why don't you take your suspicions to Planetcatfish?

No need to get touchy, every fish that you cant identify is not automatically a hybrid.

No one is getting "touchy". There's several guys over there that are very good with Synodontis species. Just post some pictures.

I guess there would be if they started or joined such a site but I spoke my peace and my statement still stands.

I never said I couldn't identify it. I identified it as hyrid. It's kind of obvious in this case.
