Can anyone identify my gar

I dont know what type of gar it is... The shop from where i bought it from told me its an alligator gar... i dont think so....

hmm stll looks like a short nose but the spots are throing me off thinking its a florida

I think it looks like a shortnose as a juvenile, but as an adult is looks like a possible florida with a washed out pattern.

I've been feeding him beefheart nd feeder guppies.... i think he's lost his colour becoz of this... im not sure....

he's a florida/spotted gar. the color does seem very light, but he's still a nice gar. try giving him some shrimp, krill, pellets, etc. mine all love it and it's good for them. at 11" he must go through guppies like crazy and they arent very nutritional!

That is a Shortnosed Lepisosteus platostomus
Spots in the manner shown are not uncommon for these fish.

wow! i thought it was just a pale spotted/florida. that just goes to show you that you can't id these fish based on color and pattern.

i can def. see shortnose in the older photo, but not so much in the more recent photo. very nice fish.
