IIRC, the darker (more spangled) tems are the juvenile colors. And the lighter (less spangles) are adult colors???

I really hope you do succeed because when you do you can tell me your secret. The mono's that breed for me are supposed to be the easiest to breed. And i think the tems are supposedly the hardest.
How old are your fish and what size are they mike?
Im going to singapore the beginning of feb so i will see if i can extract any info from the breeders there. between singapore and Taiwan they seem to be able to breed most species in the world- even the ones that apparently don't breed in captivity. Trust me many of the fish we are led to believe are wild are secretly CB.
I think trying to get any tips on just how they actually do it would be as hard as getting tem to breed lol
If you look on youtube videos, all the largest and rarest specimens in aquarium all come from asia.-Peacock bass, Hydrolicus armatus, Goliath tiger fish to name a few
there are some awesome examples come from there. I guess the demand is allot higher for a start. Its poor in the u.k , people would rather have guppies, angel fish , tetras - WHY? How can people not like Peacock bass They are amazing characters , not skittish , beautiful colors , amazing to watch feeding- i cant see why they arnt as popular.Even if you only had a small tank you could buy a couple from me, have the satisfaction of watching them grow and then when they get too big i would gladly exchange them for some cute little babies again lol ;)

Them pictures were from ages ago mate.I couldnt remember who i got the bass off, but yes it was you. The dorado i don't no whether it was yours or not as i had 3 of a similar size but two died when my cellar flooded and i had to set up temporary containers for them with polythene sheet over the top. they somehow managed to jump out one night along with a azul bass - £300+ down in one night !!.He is in perfect nick now though.he has to go in a diffrent tank because he harrases my 2 armatus in the big tank and then every now and then the big aimara wolf would have a bite at him!!
Have you seen my new list of fish i can get hold of ?
Japanese perch maybe ?
Barramundi
Golden masheer
Cuban garfish
Large mouth bass
Murray cod
siamese carp.
There are a few brackish to full saltwater preds on there too as i notice you have a reef set-up. The big eye trevally are awesome- just like little pit bulls when they eat,
you wont find anyone in u.k selling these fish.
There is a full price list on my facebook page

There are also some videos of these fish in action
You've not had much luck with your fish mate have you?! That was my Dorado his dorsal fin was bent ... lovely fish though ... sorry I sold him!
No Preds going in my Reef tank mate. Thanks anyway

....

I paid double the price for some Kelberi 'Araguaia' which originate from the Araguaia river rather than Kelberi 'Bahia'. Both beautiful fish but he first is regarded as the best as you can see why. These stunning bass demand over $700 USD at 14" in Asia !

Dont get what you mean by it should be more elongated ?
Fish are like humans they come in all shapes, sizes, breeds and colors
.
If you type the word Temensis into Google and click on images and you will see just how many different shapes, sizes and colour variations of the Tameness bass they really are.How many bass at 26" do you see in the aquarium hobby?. Ive had the fish nearly two years and it has grown about an inch in length, It has thickened out loads and put a lot of depth though. And the colors and markings look more vivid.

The picture above shows an example of two wild temensis. The top one looks like mine and the bottom one which is the better looking bass IMO - the speckled temensis which are what Bassinmike85 has and is trying to breed at the moment .I would rather have size than beauty in this instance though lol .I dont no how old his bass are but i would estimate them at maybe 2- 2.5 Years old.
If you take in to account bass can grow 12" in the first year then to 18 inch in two years they are going to have a elongated shape aren't they. where as my bass ive had it two years and its grown just over an inch. I don't Know the age of mine either but if i had to guess id say 4-5 years. peacock bass especially Temensis grow in length the first few years and then when they start to mature they fill out and get the depth in there body. The colors of these bass vary immensely due to which rivers they come from and the Same applies to all bass.
The temensis pictures bellow clearly show this.
