Its VERY profitable, I got a stack of paperwork (all around the world) of vendor's pricelist! Its AMAZING on how cheap your average fish cost!!

An example (from a local wholesaler quote)

A bag of 1000 neon tetra cost $60, thats $17 cents each :D and the store can sell as low as $1 each...

Those paroon / emperor shark, they are worth like $0.70 cents to $1.00 each and I seen store sell them for like $10-20

They make LOADS!!! :D

they do make a good profit on alot of fish im sure. however, the electric bill will be nice and high that needs to be paid, the water-bill will need paying, tax man without a doubt wants his share, employees would like to be paid to avoid a mass uprising in the ranks, as would the landlord, and advertisers.

when it comes down to it, pennies from each fish may actually make it to the owners pockets. maybe a buck or two on some large priced items. but thats why you need to have a large customer base, and turn alot of product so you can make those pennies into dollars at the end of the week.

Well, I came back from the SBA, and due to the lack of information that the current owner wont release to me, H2O will not be mine. But thank you all for your PM's and support. In a year, I will open a LFS, but right now, I will open a franchise 1st, gather more dollars and that way, my shop will be a hobby 1st, business second and that will work best for all.

Guess you'll just have to look for a shop here in Indy.:D
