Just wondering if I can feed my fish with any fish fillets. I go fishing sometime and bring home fish from ocean (Rockcod) and lake (Striper bass). I don't know if I can give some to my pbass/dats/aro/gar/bichir. I know you can feed talapia so what about other fillets?

Tilapia of course is freshwater so I'd imagine that it would be more compatible with your fishes digestive systems.I do feed my dats and armatus different types of fish fillet, some of it from the ocean and have had no problems so far.

If its meat and doesn't have seasoning on it I feed it to my fish. Sorry if thats to general but fish fillets are fine just in some cases really oily or messy. if you put it in and your tank doesn't get an oil slick for the next week you're fine.

Sure you can feed it to your fish. Whenever I go fishing I throw in all the scrap parts.

Wow wow wow.... i have been reading this and said that u want to feed ur fish fillet fish straight from the sea? if that is true i would not do it man.... they have parasites, bacteria, and more bad stuff on it. Would be better if u buy it or start breeding them if u r really desperate... :( sorry no free food that is good.... lolz fed my fish these small minows i caught from the river and they got a parasite and 4 big holes in it. They survived luckily so i would not do it ever again!

What I meant was that the fish fillet that I use is bought raw from the market, some of it fresh, some of it saltwater....As far as catching ones own fish from the ocean and using it,I'm not sure if whatever parasites that are on the fish would live during the trip home and live for very long once they enter freshwater...

All kinds of meat? Mammal meats aren't good for fish. They can't process it as well as fish meats.

OP, yes fish fillets are fine if their not injected with chemicals.

agreed.
what do you think sushi is, magical sterile fish? unless you live by a polluted bay or in a van down by the river i think you should be okay. what do you guys think about the bones though? the bones of little fish are kinda squishy, like sardine bones, but the bones of a bigger saltwater fish can be like shards.
