Can I feed my fish this dog food?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This food has made a huge difference in our dogs health and we've tried a lot of different foods. No more running eyes or stinky ears.

A change in diet can definitely help with those and skin problems too. It did with our last Aussie for sure.

I am glad the food has helped your dogs out

I don't see Canola oil being good for a fishtank......oil in general. I mean even fish oil is bad in the wrong amounts and will affect water quality at some point. That's like feeding them bacon and sausages or stuff like that - I probably wouldn't do it, but if you want to risk it, I guess nobody can really tell you what to do, it's your tank and probably $1000's of $$$

Dude, I was right there with you until the bacon and sausage blasphemy:p

no, I don't mean fish oil.....I mean Canola oil is not so different than just dropping pieces of bacon or sausage in your fishtank. Sure it's vegetable based, but still......it's oil in water.

Besides, there's PLENTY of fishfoods out there with much higher protein than 34%. I use Hikari Bio-gold+ and it's 45%+

You can have my bacon when you pry it from my cold, dead, cholesterol filled hands!

So basically the only difference between this food and fish food is canola oil vs fish oil, and the dog food doesn't have the wheat meal or soybean meal that fish food has. I think that's a fair trad -off. The dog food has less terrestrial based items than the kens fish food I have been feeding for years.

I have never recommended any brand of fish food that is high in terrestrial based plant matter, including Ken's. Your previous poor choice of food is no fault of mine. The biggest issue with your dog food, vs fish food, is the high level of fat. I explained that from the get go - high fat diets fed to warm water species usually results in fatty deposition in and around the liver. Plenty of peer reviewed research on this subject if you are actually interested in real research, and real facts from experts in this field. Good luck.

Hot dogs?
Oh yeah...some people used to brag about feeding their fish cut up hot dogs. There has even been a thread or two on it over the years.
