CAN
Hi everyone,
I have been feeding my RTG and Dat mainly shrimp over the last 5 years. I had occasionally fed them beef, chicken and silverside (small frozen fish), and squid. They love beef and would take other food as well. I want to cut down some cost and was thinking of giving them more chicken as they are the cheaper food. Does any one know if poultry meat is good for the fish or is this totally a bad diet for the fish. I was thinking of giving them half poultry, half shrimp for now but need to know if poultry is harm free to them.
Thank you all for your comments, opinions.

fish don't digest mammalian fat well, i would stay with seafood

its true get your fish on pellets that will save you more money

i feel it is fine, i feed it to my fish with no ill effects...there have been several threads envolving this topic, most if not all are closed do to it being much like DE and everyone thinks differently on it...aswell as the kids on here can't maintain a true discution without getting personal...do a search and you should come up with lots of info on it...well atleast the same as you will in this thread before it gets closed...

hikari food sticks 1bag=$25+-...large aros can eat 2+ bags at a sitting...now one way to cut costs is with chicken like asked or another way is to go and bowfish carp...cut the fillets up and de-bone them...feed the bits and chunks you cut up to your fish...price for this unlimited food sorce FREE... i do it and so do a few others...

cichlid gold or cichlid staple or try kens fish if you are feeding two bags at at time you are defiantly overfeeding.

but the carp idea is a pretty good one if their are carp around you for me its anchovies

Considering Aro's eat birds in the wild, I don't see why this would be an issue?? Having said that, I've tried it with mine and they don't much care for it - I think it doesn't have as strong of a smell, so they don't get turned on the same as they do for tilapia or shrimp!
