This is my 265, its 2 foot wide. These are large motoros, you can see its a tight fit for the length of the rays, my other rays were in the 500, would not have it in the 265, disk diameter is around 20-24" if I remember correctly. These two were my smallest at the time. You can do it, they wont grow to 2 feet overnight, you will be good for a while.

At the time I had 4 Emperor 400s on my 500 with all these rays, it just didnt work. Was doing water changes every single day for weeks and it sucked. I had one ray die on me soon after I got it but not sure if it was because of the water but anyways, you will need some good filtration at some point especially if you get more than 1.

I now have only two rays, hens in the 500 that is 4 foot wide. I will be getting more over time now that I have the right filtration.

Pretty harsh hah... just my own experience. I may have stretched the truth a bit but not really. Drip systems are a water change every day if im not mistaken? My pups always did better with multiple small meals a day not to mention grow quick. And your average joe with a 180 featuring h.o.b.'s, maybe a sump if hes lucky is going to be spending alot more time cleaning that tank than watching it. If your willing to set up an auto changer system for your rays your proving the point they need special care compared to your run of the mill fish. I dont think i said anything thats not true

I do agree that a drip is a good idea although I am not a fan of constant drip, I prefer 2 hrs per day. Yes they need specialised care but not specialised knowledge, just good water management but they do need big footprints for the tank size.
