This is a great thread. Really makes you think if UV should be ran 24/7 or not.
I run it 24/7 btw. I dont have plants in my tank so adverse effects on nutrients or not, it wont affect my setup.

heres some more info note the last paragraph on killing benificial bacteria ect this is why i run mine for 14 hrs only gives the tank to build back up with the waste from the fish
