uv are meant to alter or retard the genetic structure of the pathogenic cell and destroys it ( hope i got that right)

uv will have no affect on inorganic salts and minerals that is in the water

never said minerals -----nutrients

This is a great thread. Really makes you think if UV should be ran 24/7 or not.
I run it 24/7 btw. I dont have plants in my tank so adverse effects on nutrients or not, it wont affect my setup.
