


Not much you can do about the pH - there are chemicals but once you start chasing numbers it’s a slippery slope imo.
Goldfish are tough - they should be fine.
The number one thing to do is pick fish that do best in high pH water.
Your grandparents likely have similar water. The best 2 choices are pick fish that tolerate high ph or use ro water. My lfs sells it in 5 gallon jugs, but I've never checked the price because it's more work than i want to put in

Sorry, yes, this is exactly what I meant by local . Often local fish stores also have the same problem so acclimatise fish to higher ph. Whilst it won’t work for all fish, there will be a large group that it may be just outside their range for so would still be fine. 7.4 is not bad. What concerned me originally was the dark blue which i would have guessed at much higher than this, 8 or even higher still, but if local water is only 7.4 then you should be good.So if my area has this ph level, maybe I could just buy fish from local pet stores? I'd assume it would be the same water anyway
