i love the idea, and as for lifespan its really hit or miss... ive read places that neons are mass bred for sale and are massively inbred due to that.

hello; I think this is also likely for the zebras. Over a peroid of a few years I did some inbreeding with the offspring of the zebras and had a notable rate of deformities. If I ever get around to trying to raise them again it would be nice to get some individuals from different genetic stocks. With my limited local sources this will likely be difficult.

It is this reason I recommend cardinals, different water parameters granted but not the genetic issues....
