Can my Floors handle this?

face the facts man, you don't live in a house that was built to handle having a large fish tank in it. and arguing glass width is extremely ignorant. theres a reason why you NEVER see tanks over a certain size built with 3/8in glass. the chances of a blowout are huge. heck, my 72X36X30 3/4in acrylic tank has a legit bow to it and its only a year old. i'd hate to see a 12ft sheet of 3/8 glass and the explosion that would ensue.

regardless, the fact that you won't pay for an inspector really says it all...

2. the lenght of the tank should span across the floor joists, but you want to double check with the manufacturer of your mobile home that this is still ok. If for example your floor is framed with 2x4 or 2x6 you're out of luck.
3. make sure you know what type of soil your mobile home is on .....you don't want to end up with a sinking problem (i'm talking inches but those can create structural damages on the long run)

Ok I can do that. My house is just on packed sand. Im just going to stick to around 200-250gallons over the widest area possible and i am using 1/2" glass

thats not true, that thread was like that cause of the way people came at me and questioned my carpentry capabilities , when ive clearly built a lot of stuff, structural stuff. but on the other hand i think you are a douche for going out and finding an old thread and linking it up, shows your true colors

so with all the worry in this thread of my floors dropping out from under my me we are going to drop the tank to below 200g. lol im making the height 24" but with a 2x4 on top and bottom that is minus 7". so 17" of actual view area, so im going with a 3/8" glass. and as u ca see in the sketchup picture theres going to be a decent amount of support on the top so stop bowing
 
I think at this point you might be better to just go out and buy a 150 or 180 gallon tank, reinforce your floor (you generally need to with almost any above ground floor if your tank is 150 gallons and up) and be done with it.

you won't need to build it, and you'll get a tank that already has 1/2" glass all around.

like I said earlier, it makes no sense build a tank yourself if you are going thinner than the standard thickness that the manufacturers use.

match it, go thicker or don't build one at all...
 
Well im matching it really, a 125 is 3/8 but 24" tall im cutting down the height by 7"s and i can build the tank cheaper then buying it because i already have the epoxy and most of the wood
 
whatever you do, don't try and make the bottom panel (that is 24" wide) out of 3/8. it wont hold. there are no tanks out there 24" wide made with 3/8" glass on the bottom. it may fold like an accordian.

you can do whatever you like, but I think you are risking a big mess (and an angry significant other :) ) building this tank out of only 3/8", its not worth the risk to save a few bucks.

do you know how much money you are going to have to spend if you have a 200g flood in your mobile home? the extra cost to build with thicker glass will be peanuts in comparison.

just saying..
