Can snails feel? Oh, God, please say no.

Pain is a human characteristic. I have branded and castrated cattle and they are fine in about 5min after the deed. If I was castrated and my flesh seared, I would not be playing with my friends or eating very quickly.

To answer your question. The snail felt no pain IMO, but then again I feed mystery snails to my puffer:FIREdevil

yes they do if you listen you can hear them scream , your a monster :grinno:

No! I hate myself and want to die! lol j/k

I feel bad but I've never heard of that happening before. Inevitable, right?

no need to worry they are not smart enough to know what pain is just how to react to it .

You are going to hell for not having a pre-filter on the intake tube of the AC 110..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................NOT

sponges work well but they look sorta funny... i used a floating worm feader ring thing and just modifyed it and siliconed it to my intake...

hey look a pic...

ok thats bull.... cause snails do feel pain and they do react to it. but a good and very cheap thing to do is to rubber band a piece of panty hose to the end of you're tank syphon. if you're snail was mostly pulled out of his shell then he'll probably die. if you want more info on apple snails then go to www.applesnail.net it'll tell you all you need to know about applesnails.

That stinks.

I did put a sponge on my intake, forgot to update. However, I guess I was not meant to keep snails. I have some bulbs floating in my tank right now to grow plants from. The other snail climbed up the wall, attached to a bulb and then fell off it while I was getting the net, cracking his shell on a piece of slate. He died overnight. My tank must be like... a snail deathtrap. And you know what? I bet you anything that if I didn't want these snails, they wouldn't be dying.

There are some very essential tank modifications that you need to do if you want to keep snails.
First, the tank MUST have a cover. A tight fitting cover. Snails will try to wander when females leave the water to lay eggs, if the parameters get off, and occasionally they just go exploring for no reason. If you have holes in the cover that a snail could fit through, you need to cover them securely with mesh or screen, at least.
Second, any intake needs to be protected with a long strainer, sponge, or mesh of some sort. Powerhead intakes are also an issue and must be similarly protected.
Once you get those two potential hazards fixed, snails are incredibly easy to keep. Just be sure you're feeding them and your pH is high enough. Simple.
