I saw the Orca thing on TV years ago, I don't have any hard proof to back it up. No documentation, in fact my case file on this is strangely blank. lol. My point being that this isn't a legal battle, this is an internet forum, if you want to believe that I'm making this up then you can. My point was that mankind isn't the only species that's cruel. Bottleneck dolphins harass and rape other bottleneck dolphins, as an example. Now I'm not pro-senseless-killing or pro-dog-fighting, I'm just saying that you shouldn't be so anti-man. It's in our nature to be violent, just because some of the more sensitive of us rise above that basic instinct doesn't mean we should condemn the writhing billions that don't.

I confirm that i have seen the phenomenon of Orcas throwing their food around on Discovery and/or AnimalPlanet (i don't remember whether it was said it was for fun, but they did it). They have also shown a pod of orcas attack a juvenile humpback whale (travelling with its mom) then only to eat its lower jaw and tongue. The raping by dolphins was also on of these nature channels.

In the end, cruelty is a human concept and is based on individual/group morals and ethics.

Ill come back to this in the morning, and post my thoughts this should be interesting, hope it dosnt get closed though I really wana see where this goes.

'sport' hunting is okay to some, because its killing for enjoyment while re-enacting the ancient techniques of survival.

If that includes sitting in a tree stand with a rifle.... I'm more of the chase em down with the sharpened rock type.

The human/animals power/cruelty debate is sort of like politics discussions, never ends good. Many are going to say that humans are the worst thing, sick, cruel etc. While its true.....it comes along with being the only advanced species.

Look at modern technology, language, population......there is no question that the entire entity is going to decimate the planet.

Whoa, sorry, didn't realise this internet forum also doubled as a doctorate thesis, if I had I would have included a page with my references. Oh you looked up the dolphin rape thing on the internet did you? Well, you're instantly an expert then. I heard about it through a friend who is actually an expert on the subject, having a degree in marine biology. She's actually seen male dolphins, in real life, gang up on other males, all the time with massive hard ons, generally bully and try to couple with them. I haven't talked to her about the Killer Whale thing, maybe it is a myth, but even if it turns out it isn't, I might not have a url to back me up so it can't possibly be true. The anti-man thing was just from the tone of your posts, maybe it was more just anti-those guys, I dunno. I really am sorry I posted at all - I now remember why I stopped using the internet so much, because people can argue into any esoteric branch of knowledge and keep up with the help of google and ugh, it's just so much more frustrating than genuine human interaction.

Can't attack my points so attack me. Good method.

Think I might join in your method for a bit. You sir, are an idiot. End of story. You say things which are false. You say things which you hear, and put it down as word. Thats not how these things work.

Let me break it down for you, ok? Lets say we were having a discussion about the shape of the world. I am saying the world is round, you are stating it is flat. I say, hey, its round! B/c of this, this, and this. You say, hey, its flat! Because....well, I can't really back that up, but its flat. Therefor, I am right, and you are a egotistical bastard who demands citation for everything.

Never did I say that I was an expert. This is called a discussion. You brought something to my attention that I had not heard about. So, before talking about something I knew nothing about (which, by the way, you have done several times in this discussion), I looked it up. Found some interesting information. Also found a scholarly article which discusses research on the subject, and found that it is not rape for enjoyment. That being said, it is rape.

My girlfriend was reading this earlier, and was asking me why am I even responding to you. I now understand her view completely. Let me reiterate. You sir, are an idiot. And as the saying goes: "Don't argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience."

I am done responding to you. Go ahead, right a lengthy response. Feel justified. In the end, you're still an idiot.

Edit: Why are you so angry at me? Was it because you said a response, and I took the time to actually respond to your post, instead of saying "Oh, yea. You're right then, I am wrong."?

.

It's also becoming hard to tell the difference.

Exactly.

As to the tossing of the seals, I never said it didn't happen. I was just responding to his post where he said that Orcas do it for fun/to be cruel. That simply is not true. Orcas do it to get a meal. They hit the seals with their tails, which throws the seal in the air. The seals land one of two places: Right in front of their mouth, or right in front of their friends mouth. It is a form of hunting, no more, no less.

Dolphin rape? I am skeptical of this. It doesn't make sense in my mind. So I looked it up. Found some info on it, which stated that dolphins are raping the females solely for reproduction. Maybe, maybe not. Still an interesting concept.
