I disagree if you feed you FH a staple diet of Chingmix you will burn the fish it will lose its pearls and colour, for a period of time so you have to feed chingmix with moderation all of those colour enhancers need to be fed with moderation. For a staple i would use grand sumo or Amazone.

As fot that Fh i dont think he is going to improve all that much bit you never know. Good Luck

i never said anything about feeding chingmix as a staple diet. read my posts clearly. or understand it better. i clearly stated that it would be best if you feed it with super color and pearl boosters in its juvy days. and i never said anything about chingmix as a stable diet. not only does it damage the fish hormonal balance, it will cost you an arm too if you plan too make chingmix an everyday fish cereal.

I don't know that it is a low quality flowerhorn but i love it to death. While it seems like the consensus rest on female i like the name Isaac. Its ok that it wont have a hump where it lacks in appearance it definitely makes up in personality.

I was wondering about the potential and quality food because I want t treat it well and thank you all for your wonderful comments.

I am still fairly new to this flowerhorn hobby and this is my first flowerhorn that actually has some nice red to it.. I will post a picture of its progress over time. probably add a picture up every week or so. heheh

So sit back and enjoy the show. I sure will...hehe:popcorn:

i love your attitude man! that, for me is what fishkeeping is all about. keep it up. as what i posted here, i think your fish has potential for improvement. keep us posted pls

Glad to see the fish is in good hands :) Ive had my fair share of low grades and honestly I have liked some over ones worth hundreds of dollars. The head is gene based and should show something by now and if not I wouldn't waste your money on head boosters as there is nothing to boost :)

As for chingmix
It does not contain hormones and the older versions you could cause negative effect by over feeding but the new SP80 is a new formula and the results so far have been good. Its always good to give a variety of food , I have 3 brands blended in a jar and feed out of there.

Pretty Fish, Red may improve, I had one that looked similar, a girl and now she is VERY red. I have another AFemale that was very red as a juv and seems to have faded as she aged, so you can never tell. Wait till it is up in the 6-10" range and your gonna be pretty darn sure what its gonna look like.

Head growth - Hard to tell if he may grow larger than this or not.
There are various factors -
1- Genes (Most important)
2- Food
3- Tank size
4- Oxygen and water condition
5- Etc .

For color - good pellet food will help him to enhance color .

nice attitude! we'll help you in any way we can. :)

looks female and the red is just too rich
nice fish

Put a few rocks in the tank to bring up the PH, i realised with my flowerhorn is after i took him out of the cichlid community tank which is all rocked and put him in with all the larger cichlid that had mostly driftwood he went all dark and lost his red asif his color has been burnt.. I just feed mine arowana food sticks like what i feed to my jardini and its bringing back the color and alottt of water change.. but from all u guys in here i think i might buy some Grand Sumo.. i need one type of high grade food.

never underestimate a flower horn.. the so called low grade fish can become stunners as they grow :)

and ching mix doesnt have any hormones (atleast no sex hormones) and it is safe(according to me).. my friends are feeding ching mix to their Fh since nearly 2 years and they have had no issues.... i feed my Fh 70% ching mix and 30% other foods, and they are doing great....its up to u if u want to fed ching mix as a staple, or u want to mix them with other pellets like Hikari, New Life Spectrux, Xo products, etc......

but i love ur attitude, they are amazing pets and they should be valued for that :)
