flowerhorn is a man made fish and its diet is not the same as to other cichlids.
giving those mentioned food should be done in the fh's juvenile stage as it is at this stage where great development occurs and at this stage it will need the best supply of nutrients to maximize its potential. when it reaches the 5" mark, development of hump and color slows down and this will now be the right time to feed it with staple food as it will no longer need as much nutrition compared to its juvenile stage.

theres no such thing as a "man made fish." Hybrid or not, it should not be fed hormones at any stage of its life IMO.

it is a female a guess. with that developed color, it shud have its head shape already..

I bought fish in a store who is yellow in color, have little stars, and no flowers. it had a portion in which dark previous skins where placed... i just got curious if it is an Fh.

every fish i think has great potential.
good luck with him.

Interesting ..i guess you are from NYC too then...heheh I get them at this place off the D train line..its like a little store on the corner but all their Flowerhorns are at best b grade.

Ctown has some decent looking FH but nothing spectacular in my eyes..

Good luck with the fries hope you get a humper hehhe..:naughty::naughty:

I think the red is gonna be insane when that fish matures... I would feed your fish a WIDE variety of food for best results...

The thing is i gave this fish away the one i currently have is younger than the one in this thread. I purchased this fish when it was already around the 3-4 inch mark and the new fish i brought is at the pushing to 3 inch mark..

THe new fish I named hercules was with me at about 1.5 inches and has grown quite a bit which makes me a happy.
