can someone tell me Why does people like Cichlid

theres thousands of different cichlids and they all have personality some are colourfull some are crazy hardcore aggressive theres pretty much a cichlid out there for everyone thats why

I personally like them because they are a perfect match of beauty and personality.

I love the potential sizes you can have them grow to, and for me as someone new to the hobby there are a few hardy species that are great to learn with (not from...).

But yeah, doing research is important - even just asking here people will give you lots of great advice on why to nor not to choose a certain fish. People won't always a agree, but you get a nice balanced argument for you to base your decision.
