im looking for black silicone to use on a tank. Went to Home Depot and was only able to fine GE silicone II with bioseal and this.

I don't think so. Your hand is blocking it, but I see something about "cured" and "mildew resistant". From what I can see I wouldn't risk it

Only way to know is to test it. Typically latex or acrylic based sealants are not used in favor of 100% silicones.

Having said that... MANY, of the compounds people say are fish unsafe have been successfully used by people before anyone told them they were unsafe. I would keep shopping personally. McMaster.com has many fish safe (proven) adhesives in stock and they ship overnight.

Don't use that silicone. Get a type that doesn't mention anything about mildew resistant or bio because it will leach chemicals into the water that are toxic to the fish. I usually get GE1 and it comes in several different colors.

^^ well again that's what I'm talking about. That's the theory, and that's what people say, but I don't think anyone's tried every mildew resistant silicone and proven it to have killed their fish.

To be safe, I'd heed the advice and go GE1 or DOW 732/832. I'm just being an academic weenie.

dap does make a black silicone thats just 100% silicone... that however is not it...

black is the new clear silicone :) i'm glad we caught you before you used that mildew resistant stuff

Thanks guys anyone know where to find the 100% DAP black silicone. I was at Home Depot and couldn't find any that was the only thing that was black. They had GE II but it had that bio guard stuff i it.
