Hey guys,

My giant Pacu has been evicted from the 125g. Now the Jag in there has realized he's the biggest fish in the tank.

Him and the Jack Dempsey seem to really hate eachother. I'd like them to stop battling eachother a bit.

My question is this-

can i get other fish in there to keep the Jag occupied or will they just be instantly gobbled? I have a small GT that is too quick for the Jag to catch. There are also many caves and hiding spots that the Jag can't fit his fat ass into.

I'd also like to add some more movement to the tank.

Will it work? I like my little craw-dad in there. Maybe some sort of cave dwellers like that? Khuli loaches?

Maybe just a few convicts to act as dither/target fish? I like convicts.

Convicts are sounding better and better.

Since i have a lot of area to work with i can make quite a large cave system that the Jag won't be able to get into.

I just redid the opposite side of the tank, hopefully the jag takes a liking to it. I think the problem is that the jag isn't really too interested in owning a nice cave/apartment condo, he wants the entire complex for himself. He's just sort of a jerk.

The jack is perfectly content in his own little cave, but the Jag keeps sticking his head in front of it, so the Jack shoves him outta there, and then the Jag just shakes his head violently, and scoops up some gravel then spits it at the Jack. What the hell is going on here? The jag keeps digging around Jack's cave complex, like he's trying to knock the whole thing down or something. He has grabbed a big piece of the slate and tried to pull it out even. Its like he's sieging the castle.

Sounds like the Jag may be trying to evict the JD. What is the size of both fish? Jaguars are significantly bigger and more powerful then JD's so I would keep a close eye on them.

Put some goldfish in there, that will calm him down...LOL

The Jag seems to be abnormally small actually.

The jag is about 10" and the JD is 8". JD is definitely fully grown.

The jag has been the same size for months on end now. I'm guessing (hoping) that he/she is full grown already.

As long as the JD is in a cave, the Jag can't win the battle. He just pokes his head in there, shakes his head around, and then gets shoved out of the way by the JD.

I'm sure the JD can hold his own, and he does, but i don't want him to get too stressed out. He seems like he's not intimidated much by agression though (he is a JD after all.)

Edit- speaking of goldfish! I put some shiners in there from the local bait and tackle a while ago when i still had the Pacu. HOLY #@#$% did that Jag go crazy on those things!

They are like a disgruntled married couple.

The jack stopped putting up a fight so they aren't in danger of hurting eachother any more. When the JD comes out of his cave he does get chases around the tank but the Jag doesn't nip at him unless the JD flares and faces him. He got the point now though and stopped trying.
