I got a idea for when power goes out even tho this didnt kill ur fish. Hook a generator up to ur tanks like wire it in some how. So when power down u can keep the tanks goin.
 
the tank is set to 70-72 since the perch are cool water fish and I always replace everything with cool water. I have not changed this tanks habits or schedule since the day the perch went in it a couple months ago

have you used any kind of pesticide recently in your home? do you live in an apartment and possibly maintenance or the landlord sprayed something? even air fresheners and other household aerosols can be airborne and find their way to your tank, leading to poisoning
