Can you keep Spotted Gars with Alligator Gars??

i do not think any fish can grow 24 inches in one year.maybe a pima.

Under proper conditions and feeding A. Spatula can easily hit 24"+ in one year. I have a feeling youre in for a BIG surprise. What tank mates is he being housed with? Keep a close eye on them as he grows.

I have florida gars (16inches) with 2 gator gars (17inches). The gators are definitely more aggressive as they steal food or attempt to but in no way will they eat the floridas. I'd only be worried if the gator was a good size larger.

Gars are illegal in Cali....FYI.

Secondly it is a fact that the Gator will be a good size larger than the Florida Gar and in a fairly short time. It's a mix that i personally would not want to risk. I'm sure it can and has worked for people, but the horror stories that i have heard about Gator Gars eating/killing tankmates makes it not worth it to me. I love Gators, but they are brutes and demand a ton of respect.

Hi Wanted to know if anyone has any experience keeping different gars together in a big tank...6x2x2.
I would like to keep Alligator and Spotted gars in my collection and wanted to know if the can be keep them together.

Gattor will eat the spotted ( and outgrow the tank). , get two spotted instead.
