I know this is going to sound stupid. but i ran out of money for my 40 breeder turtle tank. I don't have money to buy a stand now. can you place the tank on a concrete floor? not directly on the flloor maybe with some towels under it. i'm more worried the fllor is cooler and may crack the tank. it's in the basement

You can but it depends on your filtration. If you have Hang on's you should be good. I had a 20gl set up in my 300 Stand. Only way you could see it is if I opened the doors Lol.
Canisters are a dfferent story if I am not mistaken.

well it wouldnt work with a 305 because it needs to flow with gravity, and it most likely wont have too much to work properly.. and..why would you set it up on the floor anyway? why not save the hastle and save for a stand?..:screwy:

well they say you are supose to put the canister filter below the water line to get better flow. But I do have a fluval 305 next to my tank.. well its a little above the tank. Cant get it under the stand and wont work in any place than were it is. It filters well, but it doesnt have the flow rate like it should. Because it has to flow uphill. So it might work ok, but its not recommended to use the filter unless its below the water line. Maybe get some cynder blocks and put some 2x6's on them and make a table for the tank.

i agree. if premade stands are too much, you can always DIY them for way cheaper ;)

I've use a magnum 350 next to a tank before and it worked. Gravity will increase the flow, but it did work as a filter. I havent used a fluval tho.

Fluval works about the same.. It will work, but not recommended. JUst the flow is not as much..

you need tools and a little skill. both i don't have.. + worried it wouldn't hold the weight of the tank
