sweet setup's guys!!

man that sump is huge!! LOL :character0063:

so you guy's honestly agree no driftwood at all? i mean to a point i would almost rather be it that way..

what about a few small chunks laying on the bottom of the tank?

As long as it's not sharp, it should be ok....even if you keep the centerpiece. Just dull any sharp edges that may be present. A friend's ray tore its disc on a piece of driftwood that had a burr shaped like a hook. It healed, but wasn't pretty.

I would take the drift wood out as well, as the rays get bigger the tank will just look smaller and smaller with it in there. Plus you want as much space for the rays as possible.

It would be fine when they are small, but as they get bigger I would take it out, that is if you are getting small ones. Just make sure there are no sharp edges.

Here is my old ray tank. There is a female bigger than that male buried in the sand and a smaller retic too. You can see there eyes. No decor is how I went' but the tank was small.

awesome setup i can see there eyes! that's killer thank you!

ya I'm pretty set on removing it, i like the idea of a open tank.. NO dead spots! hell ya! i was getting so tired of the load in my tank when i had all three chunks in there. once i get the rest of the plecos and geo's out i will remove it!

oh and also not to mention clear water again!

deathcurl, what type of gar is that in your setup?

sorry to derail....

Hey arent rays illegal in the us. Just asking I wasnt sure.

Rays are illegal in certain states. For more info you can see Oddball's listing of illegal species by state in the Frequently Asked Questions forum.

Gr8KarmaSF: It's a spotted gar...

Beautiful fish. Its too bad you had to get rid of the rays. Very nice tank.

Thanks! They're in happier places (giant setups)...I'm starting with a few more small ones to grow out again.
