Can you please share full tank pics of your ray setups?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice looking motoro you have there. I would keep only one male in the tank. You will want a higher female to male ratio with ray. Also I have heard some horror storys about male motoros messeing up females pretty bad. I have also experienced it.

My male was a little SOB. He messed up my female pretty bad. Took about 2in off her tail, and would do a number on her disk.

Here is just one of the various bite he did to her, so the more females the better.

Thanks

My only concern is the rays (depending) on which ones i decide may not match the male i have, and he is pretty small right now, the ones i am getting shipped in will be around 10" or more,

i would rather get a group shipped in with a m-f ratio rather then chance just getting females that may or may not be as the same ID as what i allready have.

no matter what i am going to go with 1m 2f to have shipped in. and then go from there with the male i have now, im sure if it came down to it i could sell him pretty easy.

thanks again for your reply!

cant wait to get some more in this tank! :D :headbang2 i am hooked BIG TIME :grinno:

I don't really think it matters a whole lot if you have motoros from the same location or not. Unless that is something you want.

If you get the rays breeding you could end up haveing some really interesting pups, with motoros from different locations. My female was just a common motoro and my male was a marbled. My males parents, the female was plain, and the male was marbled, and most of the pups came out marbled.

I'm not to sure on this. I have only ever seen the defect in motoros rays or have ever heard of it in motoros until recently when Michael had that batman otorongo pup. So I'm not really to sure on it.

It is a birth defect though, and most of the time when they are born this way, they are born prematurly. Even if you did have this problem at some point, I don't think you would have trouble with selling them. Also its not like you weren't doing a good job with the rays, its a birth defect and just something that isn't in your control.

Yeah, it grew back in about a month.

if a ray is around 5" how old do you think it is?

just trying to figure out how young mine is.

i will get some pics of my ray setup tonight after i remove the Altifrons.

i am going to give him a few more river rocks as i am finding he likes to play on the one that is in the tank.

Not to old they are ussually born around 4''. In a small litter, like 1 or 2, the pups can be 5''. He is probably 3 months old. Around there probably.
