Can you stop/discourage piranhas from breeding???

I am having the same exact thing happening in my tank right now..... although it just started happening...they have bred three times just since Feb..... i plan to try and raise the fry to give myself a few extra Ps but I know nothing about it and it seems that info is scarce

You could always just vac out the eggs a dump them down the drain, if you just don't want to raise the fry. If they are getting hostile while they are spawning you could build a few dividers and keep them seperate until they finish.
 
I've been trying new things for this problem. The problem is rbp aren't picky. Lowering the temp won't work till you get in the lower 70s. Water changes with warm or cold water won't stop them, its still fresh clean water either way. More decor & ground cover helps, less spawning sites. But to be effective you bout have you cover bottom with decor. Barebottom tank will probably work the best to stop them or at least slow them down. Could add a pleco or two for help cleaning out eggs & nest sites.
