lol easyer said then done. my money goes to more important things at the moment. plus id never pay for a outragously priced stand when i coulld probably pay someone in beer to build me one.

what do u consider outrageously priced?

if u could pay someone in beer to build it for u, why is the tank still sitting on the floor? :D

if don't want to pay the money for a stand, u will not be able to pay for a quieter filter (Canister filter). unless of course u pay someone in beer for it. ;)

Just keep your water level where its supposed to be and you won't even hear the AC110s.
The filters are not the problem.

its a custom made tank it has wood trim around all the edges (the top edging hangs into the tank about 2 inches) i dont want the water touching the wood because i dont think the wood was sealed. the filter floss idea works like a charm though.

I would go to home depo and get some concrete blocks. My tankj is int he same situation. Then just place the canister filter on the fround next to or behind the tank. Another option would be the "hot magnum". It is a canister filter that actually sits on your tank, just as your current filters do. With this filter you have the benifits of a canister with the convienence of a filter that attaches to the tank. Lastly raising the water level would be a temporary solution to your Niagra fall sound. Or you could silicone a piece of plastic to the filter so that the water slides down tot he water without having to raise the water level. Either way eliminating the air gap will eliminate your sound.

can someone post some pics of their nice looking cinder block stands. i just cant picture that in my living room. i will eventually get one welded up.

The only reason I buy cinderblocks is because i move a lot and I can not be taking a fish tank stand everywhere. You can also buy wood paneling to go around the bloack so it does not look bad. Just use your immagination. The best bet would be to make a stand and canopy to make your tank look the best it can.

Drape a sheet of filter floss over the waterfall part of the ACs. I've got mine set up like this, it's 10 feet away right now and I can only hear the hum of the motor.
nice one, market it lol
