Just keep your water level where its supposed to be and you won't even hear the AC110s.
The filters are not the problem.

I filled the tank up to within 1/4" of overflowing (accident) and the waterfall was still very noticeable.

that s strange. out of the 8 running in my living room, (water level just under the slide), i never heard a single one until the water level drops due to evaporation.

can someone post some pics of their nice looking cinder block stands. i just cant picture that in my living room. i will eventually get one welded up.

3 cinderblocks on each side. then i built a simple 2x6 extension so i had somewhere to run the plumbing for the sump.

and then i just used carpenters staples to drape some cloth around the stand. (crappy camera phone pic. lol)

looks decent but i cant have something like that in the living room (my girls a neat freek OCD lol kinda like me everything has to be in its place and look perfect). my tank looks fine on the floor right now it is over 2 feet high and kinda acting as an end table beside my couch. with the glass top i can see clearly through the top. also i remember watching a video of your tank on utube love all those exodons!!!

the cloth usually sits nicely around it,. but i was cleaning the sump today so it was a bit wrinkled.
the other option (mentioned earlier i think) was to go with some kind of wood paneling around it. you get the same look of a nice wooden stand, but dont have to build one. lol
