Canister filter training wheels....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just fixed and set up a Magnum 350 on the state park aquarium, and I have to say that MArineland crap is poorly built. I would not buy that filter.

I'm sure if you ask Rally which canister he likes best he'll tell you a wet/dry. :D

Yep!!! Cans are great for plants. Other than that, I HATE cleaning them.

I can definitely see why. That's why I use mostly HOB's.

It takes me less than 5 minutes to do my full maintenance on my XP3. That includes priming and plugging back in. :headbang2 :headbang2

i have the 1500 model and it does suck. u stuff it with mech filter media and run biowheels with it

Now when I get my 300G Wide, instead of canister filters, I just might have to do a wet/dry for it. I'm thinking of putting my 55G under the stand and use it for the sump. The tank will also have 2 overflows, as well as 2 external water pumps under the stand, which I currently have. One of the pumps will be hooked up to a CO2 reactor as well, and the other might be hooked up to a UV. But still debating if I still want to run at least one XP4 with the sump up in the tank, possibly 2.

I agree, wet/dry will be my next project.

Will you still run a can with it? Also for heating, what's your plans?

If I run a wet dry, I will split heaters. One in the wet/dry and one in the tank, just in case. I would run a can too for mech filtration.
