So I am in the market for a canister filter for my 150ish gal aquarium. I am not a rich man, my budget is around $100ish. I actually acquired the tank because an aquarium company next to where my old roommate works put it out back to be put in the dumpster. He snagged it and it holds water great!!! :headbang2So back to my base question, what would you (being the genius MFKers) recommend I purchase to filter my tank? Being a canister filter, around $100. Any input would be Awesome guys! Thanks! :D :D :D

There a post a couple down from this about Sun/Sun Perfect canister filters. There cheap knockoffs that you can get on eby I've heard a lot of postive things about them.

For that price range the Sun/Sun seems like the way to go... If you want to dish out $200, theirs a couple of places where you can get a fluval fx5 shipped for that much...

I have a sunsun canister running my 150 and it works great. It was only 50 bucks brandnew aND 100 BUCKS FOR ONE WITH A UV STERILIZER SHOULD FIT YOUR BUDGET. oR CHECK OUT AQUATOPS A LITTLE MORE EXPENSIVE BUT IN THAT PRICE RANGE MAYBE 150 BUCK TO FILETER 170 GALLONS AT THE SUPPLY STORE BY MY HOUES,

First off did you get angry with me part way through your response?

Secondly I saw the thread on sunsun. And I didn't know if it would be worth it to pay and have one shipped off ebay? Ya know what I mean? I'm totally not against knockoffs though ;) haha

Well its about the only thing you can currently afford that will be semi suitable for your tank...

Well you make my decision easy...... hahaha :grinyes:

The other option is rigging up a DIY sump filtration system. Which I did with my 80 gal. Which I might do...... They are cheap but can be very temperamental! :nilly:

I think I might keep my eye on craigslist and hope I get lucky in the next couple days. And if I don't I might buy one like the sunsun. :D

I've been also reading good reviews on Sun Sun's units.
While building a restaurant kitchen in Moses Lake; the owner had a 200G saltwater setup with 3 Sun Sun's for filtrations.

Yeah so far most all reviews I have read have been pretty darn positive!

I wonder if its worth it to get the one with the UV sterelizer? It would help against ich and stuff of that sort.....
