Yeah so far most all reviews I have read have been pretty darn positive!

I wonder if its worth it to get the one with the UV sterelizer? It would help against ich and stuff of that sort.....

the whole "UV" arena is a totally different approach regarding filtration.
Its not needed, but a Plus to have.

A used Rena XP3 normally sells for $60. I bought two of them used and they are working welll after a year or so. You can buy two of them for about $120. But with used stuff, you are always taking a chance if it will last or not.

I don't think they are really needed for freshwater. But hey the SunSun filters have a UV light in them (albeit an underpowered one). I'm loving the silence of my house now that I installed the SunSun and took off the Emperor and Whisper HOB filters. I had to touch it to make sure it was still running this morning.

UV sterilizers can be very nice on freshwater, run one on most of my tanks

We run a UV on my daughters planted tank. Works great for controlling green water. Haven't ever needed it any of the other FW tanks, with less intense light.

UV sterilizers kill more than just green algae
True, but that is the reason we started using it.

My bad, wasn't trying to be smart or anything......little behind on wake and bake making me a little slow this morning lol. My apologies

Yeah I have heard two different opinions about Freshwater UV use-->

1) Awesome and Neccesary
2) Not neccesarily needed

From that I get that it might not be neccesary, but if its offered, why not? :D

Thanks for all the input guys! Cheers!
