Canister filters

Don't get the XP4, if you want reasons contact Oddball. He had an experience with them a few months back.

Chemical filtration media is things like ammonia absorbing crystals, purigen, d*nitrate, carbon, peat, crushed coral, phoszorb, etc.
 
The question was asked at a certian price point. I've used just about everything on the market as well over the years. I'm hardly a 19 year old beginner with delusians of grandure and I do my homework. Eheims with a comperable flow rate do exist but at well over twice the price. Personally if I was going to spend that much I'd go with an external pump-multi cannister system like a ocean clear. Additionally I have never relied on a single filter system no mater how advanced and I'm not about to start. I still run air driven foam filters in most of my tanks for the extra biomass and of course as an emergancy back up.
 
okay. i have decide that either i get an fx5 or an 2224 pro or xp3
