A little derailing going on. Myself, island and gth are all refering to the xp3, I know...sorry:(

You are right on with the AC110s though, I would think 3 would be fine whatever the stock may be.

Yea 2 or even 3 110 would do the job, plus it would be cheaper than a single FX5.

3x 71.99 is still a better price than an FX5... but an FX5 is a hell of a filter. If it was me, Id hang 3 AC110's off the back. Will look better than a hulking canister sitting next to the tank. The FX5 would *probably* be OK. I think they recommend it be 7" below water level, and a 125 is 24" tall, so with your 6" stand it ought to be fine.

Also I may get flamed for this... but for all who are using an XP3 for reference - I have both an FX5 and an XP3 and you can't compare them. I made the mistake of owning the FX5 before buying my xp3, and I hate the xp3. It won't self prime, and it has that hokey valve-locking mechanism on top, and if you get any air in it at all it takes forever to come out, blah blah blah. If it wouldn't have been ridiculous overkill I'd have taken the XP3 off my 50gal, taken it back and bought another FX5.

Actually the 71.99 is what is on the page, but if you add to your cart and then veiw the cart, you'll see they are still only charging 44.99:headbang2

Never had a problem with the xp3 self priming. I will admit the filling the hose with a funnel method is the goofiest thing I ever seen. Once hose is filled after first setup, I unplug, disconnect hoses, remove and clean the filter, replace empty filter, reconnect the hoses, wait 30 second for the filter to fill with water, turn it on and go. This works with all seven I have, oops 6 one is sitting dry.

There you go. 3x AC110 gets you ease of installation, ease of service, no hulking rubbermaid thing next to your tank, double redundancy on your filtration, and half the price. If I could fit an AC110 on my tank, I'd be unhooking my FX5 right now.
