Would it cheaper to run a canister on a 90 gallon tank or two ac110? I'm consider switching to canisters but idk much about them never used one before. They use less power? Also the gph on the ac is 500 a piece and a canister fx5 or 6 wasn't close to the 1000 of the two ac but I'm assuming it does better filtration with less gph because more media?

I ran 2 AC110 on a 90 for years no problem. I changed it to an AC110 and and a Eheim 2217, then later dual 2217's. I feel the AC110 is the best HOB out there be I prefer canisters and no longer use HOBs unless on a hospital tank. Currently I'm running dual 2217's on a 75g same size as a 90 just not as tall. And I'm content with that. I like using two filters for redundancy and alternating cleaning cycles.

I wouldn't run a single 2217 (600) on a 90. If I had a brand new setup id really look at dual FX4's

Run two sun sun canisters. They're cheap and hold a lot of media.

I got 2 aquatops couple of days ago and each tray hold a little more than an fx6 tray... I've got 6 trays total to fill

I use an AC110 on my 70, very easy to maintain but I think canisters will give you more power and space to play with :)

Canisters are a pain in the arse to clean, and because of this I see them running for long periods building up loads of gunk, and becoming nitrate factories. I tried everything from Eheim, to Marinland and I'd never take one again, even if it was given to me free.
There is nothing magical about a pressurized can.
