So umm you think the farm raised fish you buy at the supermarket was not raised in their own filth, fed with processed food, and been medicated? Or how bout those vegetables you buy. Most of them have been loaded with pesticides. How bout those processed meat you find in your Mcdonald burger? Ever think about what's in those things?

Well is300zx...I guess were all just screwed from the get go then  .

I do know that as far as the subject at hand is concerned...aquarium fish is one thing but a millions and millions gallon pond is another. Plenty of dillution there. I guess I see your point though.

Normal and ok to eat em, huh?

LETS TRY THIS
Why not invite the neighborhood over for a good old fish fry. A nice, social get together(cue elevator music) where this commonly excepted ritual of eating aquarium fish can be experienced. Tell em to bring their own fish if you want, and specify no need for aeration. Better yet, no need for water :D ..just net them out and put em in a paper bag....How many will show? The only ones that show would probably be the ones curious to see if you were serious. (I would be one of the curious ones, I have to admit)

OR BETTER YET...let's say you have a bunch of red devils or TSN you don't want anymore. Invite for the fish fry...but don't announce what exactly is for dinner...have them observe the fish before you snatch em out to their horror and surprise. Then ask them how they like their seasoning. If it were truely normal they would simply reply "a lil salt and pepper only please"
How do you think it would go?

dude he did!!!
wow from what it sounds like he doesnt have a prolem with eating em at all,
i have a big ass pacu and i can honestly say ive wanted to and ive actually looked up recipes(most of em say to build a fire and find a bannana leaf) but i just have a feeling that it would be quite the tasty meal, i just cant find the nerve to kill it , i was kinda hopin an oscar or red devil would do it for me. but ive grown kinda fond of the pacu now and i dont think i could ever take out an oscar their my pals.

I find it wrong to eat your pets.

Well on the same topic..is it the same if it was a System specifically designed to raise fish as a food source? Back in high school we did a project on this involving talipa in big farmstyle type water containers with homemade filtration. Say a guy finds an appropriate fish for his climate and can design adequate space and filtration could one raise fish for food. I not thinkin raise showfish in an aquarium but a system just for home raised food. Would the size of it have to be too large to be feasible or is it a could it be done by the regular MFKer?

I personally wouldn't do it, but I have no problem with anyone that would. On the face its a little creepy, but I do not see it as a big moral dilemma.

As far as the comments about medicine, ALL food is loaded with chemicals and treatments. Living in their own waste means nothing. Look at pigs....what lives in more filth than pigs and bacon is DELICIOUS.
