car brush - tool or accessory?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's a tool in my area. I use a long handle push broom to remove snow off my SUV and a scraper for the windows.

From Maine, it's a necessary tool.

Tool:

a device or implement, especially one held in the hand, used to carry out a particular function.
"gardening tools"

Accessory:

a thing that can be added to something else in order to make it more useful, versatile, or attractive.
"a range of bathroom accessories"

Just the first thing that came up on a Google search. I fall in with it being a tool. By definition I don't think it makes a car more useful, versatile, or attractive because evidently people drive just fine without them, nor do I think you are technically adding to the car as they can be used independently.

By the way, we talking just the brush or scraper too? That could make a difference ad per those definitions, at least in argument.

Well in Ontario, it's somewhat rare to find a car brush without the scrapper attached. We do have them, but most people tend to lean towards the brush, scrapper, and squeege combo. It's just more practical.

definitely a tool. Bit of ice build up on the windshield is a pain in the a** driving with if you don't have the scraper. Could wait 20 minutes for it to defrost with the car heater (which is an accessory) or use the scraper (a tool made for removing thus ice)

Why? no windshield at all removes the need for a scraper...
