care sheet from petstore

I agree. Other than the tank size suggested, and tankmates, its actually a great little sheet. Very informative, gives a lot of good advice to people who normally wouldn't know the name of the fish, let alone anything else they list.

Walmart employee to me 6 years ago when I started fishkeeping: "That 3" Koi will be perfect for your ten gallon tank. You could also get a couple fantails to keep him company."

im sorry but i have to say. BLACK PACU? WTF LOL! they would need an 8X3X3 easily when fully grown.. imagine it, get a black pacu and it would fill out the 30 gal lol

fully grown the black pacu probs takes but an area of 30 gallons :)

What is problem? 30 gallon tank?

I think he's just trying to point out that Oscars grow to 13" and that they can live in a 30-50Gal when we all know that Oscars require more space i'd say 75Gallon also if they grow to 13" well my Uncles got something really special then because4 his is like 17" nearly .

And as far as agression go's well that all depends on the individual Oscar there personalitys are all different i have 2 10" Oscars and there great they are puppy's man and get along with 8 silver dollars and 2 2" convicts and a 5" jade eye. So yea mine are really agressive .....LOL

Seems fine to me. While the Oscar won't live TOO comfortably in the 30 long its better then most. I know some people who have huge oscars living in 10-20 gallon tanks they bought from petco.

30 gal for one oscar can be used as a min. at least it suggests over filtering it. as everyone else has said it is a lot more info then you will find at most stores. and yeah most breeders keep there paired fish in almost cruel tank sizes. 30 gal for one oscar is prob what is used for a breeding pair at most farms.

30g seems a little tight, but it did say minimum. i wish there was more information like this for beginners, it might save some lives.

I hear ya on that one. I adopted a pair of 9" O's who were "living" in a friggin 15g. One of them was showing signs of HITH and the other was deformed. I got 'em healthy and gave them to my sister and her husband.

The stores around me dont even have the name of the fish on the tanks, much less info on how to take care of them.:(

they want youi to kno u cant put oscars in tiny tanks because they dont want you
to put them in a 20 gal. or even a 10 gal.
i think its mean to even put a betta in a tiny bowl
its just plain wrong
how would you like it if you got put into a tiny room
and had to live there forever the room would be too short
too skinny
just put yourself in the fishes situation
