Bruce has officially been moved into the 75 gallon tank and has actually been doing great. I’ve been extremely impressed with the sheer hardiness of this fish. I wasn’t sure how the switch would affect him but he was back begging for food literally within an hour of being in the new tank.
As of a few days ago I’ve had Bruce for 9 months. For some reason I wasn’t too interested in taking pictures when I first got him back in October, 2021. Although the best pic from the furthest back was in January. So over the past 7 months he’s grown from this size, I suspect somewhere around the 3 to 3.5 inch range
To this size which I would would say right around the 5.5 inches:
Over the past couple weeks I’ve also noticed what looks the start of a fin trailer on his dorsal fin. You can see it pretty well in this pic

Well Matth05 he is looking really good. I’m sure he’s loving the 75 gallon. In my experience with Carpintis when they hit the 5.0 inch mark is when their growth in length really slows to a crawl. Their growth does continue in girth. They start getting thick and wide and then after a few months of that “bulking up” period they start growing again in height and length. It usually is more noticeable in the growth you see in height, not as much in length.
Some pics after todays water change. I've now had Bruce for 10 months. And just like Man-Made Monsters suggested in one of the above posts, he's now definitely going through a bulking up period. Some other things I've noticed are some changes in attitude, definitely some more aggression. Is it possible he's trying to show off his dominance? It seems like at the same time he started coloring up, bulking up, and growing fin trailers that he also started moving gravel around and showing some aggression towards me. He really goes at it with the siphon lol. I'm starting to think it's only a matter a time before my fingers become a target. I've already caught him sizing up my hand during water changes a few times.
Time to start net training him. Casper my Saggitae would always attack me when I did tank maintenance. So I started in tank netting him while I cleaned. Soon he got to the point that he didn't fight getting netted at all.
He seems to be at the same size when my male Texas started gaining confidence and attitude as well. He looks good, looking forward to more updates
