So I went and got a cascade 1500. I drove around to all the small fish shops within about an hour drive and saw everyone had cascade 1000 for 150$ that was my limit for funds. Then I saved the best for last and went to a place for pets and they had a 1500 for 140$. Man I love that shop.
Well as far as all the reviews say the setup is really easy and straight forward. Directions are simple and there's a lot of pictures. Quick tip though if you buy any canister filter open it and inspect the parts list and make sure you have it all before you leave the shop. The one I got dident have the gasket that goes between the motor housing and the tub. I called up and asked the owner what was the deal. And he admitted forgetting to pull the unit from the shelf after pulling the gasket and selling it as a replacement. Said he had a new one on order but it would take a week to get there. So he told me if I can find one somewere else he would credit my account whatever I had to pay. 10$ at aquarium paradise(much closer to home) called him and told him he said no problem 10$ credit will be added.
Hooked the filter up to 90 last night at about 8 and noticed some clearing by 10 went to bed at 11 and woke up at 6. Someone (probably my 16 month old) unplugged the unit last night. Plugged it back in at 6:05 and will report how long it takes to clear the tank.
I will add that it is a real powerful unit and the priming is cake. It has 5 trays for media. I did bio balls, filter floss, two sponges one corse and one fine and carbon.
