Little guys all moved to the 150 where they'll grow out for the next few months.
Vulture was pretty freaked, after a few minutes the jags and jur settled down and seemed to be business as usual.

That jur has some amazing trailers. Are the cichlids a pair? If so, though they may not be a particularly aggressive species, they will be with eggs, so something you may want to be careful with if so. When I had the jag I thought it may have been a male, found it was a she one day when I saw her chasing everyone away from eggs on the dw.
Not a pair yet. But ive had enough b.s happen with cichlids to not trust them. The male is maybe 2.5 to 3 inches. Hets are pretty easy going and hopefully if they so pair up it wonr happen until they move into the larger tank.
Im gonna start planning the sump and contanct midwest customs to get a ball park figure.
Funny you mention the female being aggressive because one of the fat chicks is way more fiesty than the others.
Thanks man. Hey you werent kidding about the vulture appetite. I cant believe how much it eats and not picky at all. This probably isnt realistic but i feel like it put on an inch already.
Took a couple of hrs but its back to normal zipping around the tank.
I am starting to think about how this will pan put long term though. I could absolutely see 1st hand how slow the jur is when feeding, actually havent seen it eat. I thinknit would be easier if it tong fed. So far it eats only in total darkness. That little vulture goes berserker asap when foods in the water.
Im hoping i can get the jur to eat with the moonlights on and gauge how slow it really is
Agreed, I will try to remember and make this the custom for myself. So to clarify in post #45 I meant jaguar cichlid.
Good to hear your planning things out. And hopefully in the larger tank they feel they have enough space to not kill no one if they do spawn.
Just goes to show each fish has their own personality.
Feeding with tongs can't be that bad lol. Glad to hear the vulture is back to normal. Wonder how it'll do with the bichirs worst case scenario. I think it may be smart to maybe even plan to put it in there, having two 20"+ cats in a tank may look cramped to you I know how lightly you stock compared to most poly keepers lol
You know me well bud. I added the pearsei to the poly tank and i looks like a betta bowl now....smh. so yes im going tontry and go as large as the basement steps will allow. But am already thinking who wohld stay and who would go long term. I dont think the vulture would be a good fit for the polys. The jur actually acts just like an endlicheri. Parks itsef in one spot and just chills out, even the slow eating reminds me of polys.
I wouod prefer the jur eat off the tongs that way i know its eating. Instead of waiting for the belly bulge in the monring.
Agree with you on the vulture not being a good fit, again I wasn't clear, I have an issue with writing what I'm thinking and my mind happens to wander all over the place. I meant putting the jur with them, cause as you said he may be able to compete for food in there, though feeding with tongs does sound like an interesting option to even get the kids involved with
