He had the cat for like 10 yrs. We told him to put the cat to sleep. He doesn't want too. I know, at a certain point, you become attached to the pets we have. But $3k too much though.
Same holds true for kids and parents, if it cost money have them put down, use the money to buy more fish.

Alright, really, I have been lucky and never had to spend that much at one time on a pet, $500 on a cat and 800 on treatment for a dog, but if I had to I would. I love my ornery yellow tom and can't imagine not doing all I could.

I have put up by far more money for my pets in the past - willing to do it again if needed.

I work in a veterinary office and this type of stuff gets me all the time. There are major ethical issues that are tangled up and people do not give two ****s about.

It is almost considered not a complete home if you do not have a pet, a frigging Golden Retriever is part of the American dream. People have dogs and cats yet very few can provide proper care.

Second issue is that people breed their pets for profit and nothing but profit, it is almost unheard of for dogs to be bred for both show quality, perfectly health, and performance. When you breed your "oh so cute" dog when it completely does not deserve to be bread, you give those puppies away for a couple of hundred bucks.

Many genetic problems are passed on, and because people lack the knowledge of the care they provide, dental issues, bone issues, urinary issues are very common.

The person takes the animal to the vet, can barely pay $300 for some blood and urine tests, and no chance in hell is the person willing to pay $3000 or more for a proper surgery.

It is absolutely horrible to see the number of pets that die in horrible pain because people simply do not care. If you have a kid and you bought him a pet because the kid was crying, you are a ****ing idiot. If you got a pet because you think it was cute and got rid of it because you have no time, you are a ****ing idiot. If you got a pet and then let it die in pain, you are selfish scum.

If you do not have the money to cover your own ass, do not get a pet.

thats why you get something called "pet insurance"

make sure its a good plan
Yup, great idea to get it right when you pick up your pup. If you do it right when you got the pup they will cover by far more with less questions asked. People never research, and start looking into pet insurance once they are already holding couple of thousand dollar bill - no one will cover that, and they usually refuse to cover most surgeries after that.

Very hard for a 23 year old to do but love this dog with all of it!! Would do what I had to even if that meant a personal loan or something to keep the health right!!

My wifes cat get bladder stones all the time and I will take him to this country ranch vet and he stick's a small siringe in his ying yang and flush's him out with saline. cost me about 25 bucks and about 1 hours of my time.

Not all bladder stones are like that - you got lucky.

And sometimes they have them even bigger. They also have some nasty ones like

It can get complicated as to get stuck in the urinary tract and rip the whole damn thing causing some bleeding and infection. You would have to get in there, remove all the stones, and after get the one(s) that are stuck.

Man I guess I have been lucky so far. We have put him on some special uniary food and so far he has done alright I hope he dont get anything like int he pic's about that would SUCK.
