lol, mine has ate pellets from day one. I just simply didn't feed him anything else. With my fish they are not getting live food so they either have to learn to eat fish fillet, shrimp, and pellets or they gonna starve! I haven't had any trouble getting fish off live yet though. :) My flathead eats, raw shrimp, freeze dried shrimp, sinking cichlid pellets, and algae wafers. :) So far hasn't shown any predatory aggression towards any of my fish, but I know the instincts are there lol. He is a brawler though and not afraid to defend his turf to the death if necessary. I'm so glad I saved him from certain death when he and my (RIP) wels were fighting like crazy.
 
oh yeah reminds me. When the LFS shutdown and I took all their baby convicts and put them in his tank he wouldn't even touch them! The suncats, raphael cat, granulosus, ect all ate some, but he would only take pellets. lol, the last one actually hid out under him for about a week before the granulosus got it.

Although I understand why it is illegal I believe that someone who has a native fish and treats it with a broad spectrum medication to ensure it's healthy before releasing it should be ok. Then again there is the fear of what if it has a parasite or illness not native to fish populations in the wild and you transfer it. Plus a hefty fine if you get caught. lol I would appreciate it, but you are a ways' away from me lol. Maybe you can get TBTB to drive up and take it to his catfish fortress lol.

By the way the one I got the other day puked up a good sized sunfish. Amazing how big of prey they can take down for their size

Mine took to pellets with no issues as well. Prefers them to cut salmon and tilapia.

Usually is good with the other fish, but when I went in vacation and had a buddy feed them, it did not feel it had its fill and ate a green terror.
