Like rmkblades said, the picture quality is not that great, so there is now way to be 100%. My guess would be tsn, i have seen babies with similar markings before. I also think the picture blurs out some of the markings making it appear like a Lima shovelnose. That's just my opinion, like I said there is no way to be sure.

Here is a pic I found of a baby tsn

Quit trying to confuse people, have you ever even owned a tsn?, the fish is a juv. tiger shovelnose and every single one looks like this under 4". You cant propose observations from sub adult fish pictures of tsn 8-12" u posted to the 4" fingerling like the op's, they are extremly irrelevant and obiously the fish looks completly different from 2" to even 6". Ive purchaced dozens of these fish from 2-4" and they are exactly the same as the o.p. pic. Like it was said before there is no debate, quit trolling.

Easy there...don't blow a gasket. Like I said, without a better picture you can't be 100% certain. Well, at least we can't...But you can. Good for you Mr. Catfish.

Thank you Brobstfish. That photo is clear, and agreeably that is a young TSN. And so is the one below...I just think the OP pic is not clear enough to make a 100% ID. That's just me, if anybody else wants to...go for it. I call them like I see them, and I don't see that pic clearly enough.

Is this scorn? Derision?

You are wrong on many levels, mate. Like all the experienced folks said on here, it is a baby TSN. This is what all baby TSNs look like, all of the millions of them sold worldwide.

Fuzziness does not matter - it is clear as day what it is to those that know. Those that don't can hide behind all kinds of excuses and make brash statements and troll and deride and question the authority of the knowledgeable all they want. It all will fall back on their heads.

Call it what you like. I think it's nice how you work on a buddy system. "Authority of the knowledgeable" - gotta be kidding me. Clearly you did not read my previous post.

Authority as in a person with expertise. A person who has raised many TSNs and Limas is an "authority" on recognizing the difference between the two, not that it's necessary to be an authority on catfish to realize the pic is a TSN. I've had one TSN and no Limas and I recognized it immediately.

Ok then now its

3 for lima (me included)
3 for tsn

Still open to ideas though. If lima is in the lead by Thursday I think I'm going to get it.

I'm not saying it is a lima or tsn. But the only person who actually saw the fish in person didn't think it is a tsn. And that's all folks. good night!
