Catfish ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Usually just qt for catfish. Since not difficult to feed with prepared foods. Most won't need live food even though some vendors do. No need for meds. Pg is safe for cats too.

Can just drop direct in tank and just watch.

I am roughly as careless as kno4te kno4te . If a fish looks sick, I don't get it or tank it separately until it fully recovers. If a fish comes from the wild, then I treat with potassium permanganate baths for the outer and metronidazole + praziquantel + fenbendazole via feed for the inner parasites.

I don't treat catfish much differently than other fish, scaled or not.

7777: After showing my son the pics that at thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter post in the vulture thread he doesnt want the vulture (did ask if we could set up a seperate tank for one....NO)

TBTB: As stated to you in a PM, I still believe my vultures do not kill but only scavenge dead or dying fish (or freaking out fish as was the case with my 2 black ear sharks). In small tanks, as reported by victor448 and the guy you found, they may kill.

I don't buy near as many fish as you guys with my restrictions. But I've never quarantined a fish, never lost any fish from a sickness either. I've got good luck and good water lol

I wouldnt know enough to make any assumptions and id bet that the vulture just.off what everyone is saying would be ok BUT only V victor448 and you chimed in with info on adults. Fish Tank Travis Fish Tank Travis and koltsixx koltsixx had/have them at 12 or so inches. Im sure many variables come into play like tank size which mine isnt huge....300 gal looks pretty small once any of the fish put on size. One thing i was thinking about is what happens whrn all are grown and we plan a trip. What does the vulture do if it misses a few feedings maybe nothing im almost tempted to buy onr and find out but with the rarity of bolts and they're precious pearsei the risk may not be worth the reward.

My bad luck comes in with the fish I attempt to mix, I've lost fish due to aggression issues. I remember my first jag cat was eaten alive by tiger barbs. I can't think of a time I lost a fish directly to sickness. But maybe some fish after a battle became more susceptible to sickness and died from a fight they'd normally be able to come back from. But I've never had a fish show signs of sickness only and perish. I also don't really use medication, I do add salt when I'm worried but that's it. I don't really take medications personally and it kind of carried over into my hobby, survival of the fittest? Lol

Beuatiful fish travis live them. Do you have a thread on their growth ? If not you should

My biggest issue/fear is spreading disease from a new fish to our existing

*****Right. I don't recall ever seeing them offered at under 6", usually even larger.

******I'd be comfortable if the bolt was about the same size as the trachy. LSN are so slim that I'd worry about trachy preying on them. 6" jaguar catfish would probably be ok.

So the LSN may not be a good fit long term no matter the size of the trachy ?

Viktor how are the bolts built ? I mean as a 1st person point of view, not much on the net besides the same handful of vids and pics but in your opinion do they get a little girth to them ?

Also how long would you estimate the bolt would go from 5 to 10ish inches based on you're two?
