Catfish ideas

No. They will reach 24" easily. At that size, the span of their maxillary barbels will be 3.5'+. The barbel span exceeding tank width is a no-no. The fish will be nervous, skittish, will damage itself from darting and bumping.

They also appreciate much more room for swimming.

V victor448 can tell you much more. He is our hands-down L. pictus expert-in-residence and has kept them for decades in a variety of tanks and conditions. Going to 500 gal 8'x4' made a huge and positive difference in his pictus.
Wait i must have missed this...3.5 as in feet ?

Yes. I think he was being a little generous with that as though.. I'd guess a 2' specimen barbels would span closer to 4' considering the width of their head as well

Jags just got here. 1 male and 2 fat females, jeff said they were fat with eggs, they look like small little footballs.

They're beautiful as ever, I wish mines pattern would break up already

On another note, I purchased my Trachy from predatory fins at 7" for 100, labeled as driftwood catfish. They have something labeled driftwood catfish (no pics so idk if its the same) at 10" but for 250. I'd wait on a better deal if it is indeed a Trachy. If you talk to Jeff he can probably get one for you. Just send him a picture so he doesn't get mixed up. Sometimes the people sending him the fish mess the ID up and he doesn't know any better since they're usually locals which you'd think you can trust usually.

Span doesn't equal each barbel length but 2 barbel lengths plus head width. It is the longest distance possible between the tips of two maxillary barbels.
