Hi, I have a 50 gallon stocked with nine Africans and a catfish. I just put the catfish in, its a fourline and my Ice Blue Zebra keeps trying to eat its feelers. Is this going to become a problem?

Yep, feelers will be eaten... Heck even Bristle noses will have problems... A four line cat just isn't going to be happy in there. (IE if he survives all fins/feelers will be nipped to less than an inch, he will soon be hiding for his life, etc.)

(Note if it was a hap/peacock tank he would do better.)

I work at Petsmart and I bought him as we closed the store. All I remember and all thats on the receipt is Fourline PI. The Africans I have are an Electric Blue, Ice Blue Zebra, two Electric Yellows, a Jewel, Bumblebee, Red Zebra, Acei, and a light blue one I got out of our assorted tank. Actually, now the catfish seems to be chasing off the Cichlids when they go near. He's hiding in the plants at the moment.

That sucks. I have another question that I'll just ask in this thread. I've been feeding these guys a small cube of frozen brine shrimp every night. For nine Afrcians do you think thats enough? They all get some. I also have some small pellets that I have only given them a couple of times.

What kind of catfish? If it is a softy, the Africans can destroy all of its fins in a day. All you will have left is a catfish stump.

Try the pellets more. They are a more balanced food w/vitamins and minerals. They may also (Should) contain kelp or spirlina, as well as color enhancers. The brine is OK for a couple of days a week, but the majority should be a good pelletized or flake food.

I had two columbian shark (catfish) with my Africans. One was killed in about a week. The second made it for a couple months but suffered the same fate.

Good Luck
