CATFISH POWER/STRENGTH STORIES!!!!!!!!

Mang (my RTC) was about 12" long living in a 135 gallon tank and use to bum rush live feeder fish when it was feeding time. He got a bead on his next tasty snack and torpedoed into the fish. He came to an abrupt stop when he slammed into my over-flow, cracked it into two and sent one portion of it through the top glass and into an upward motion right into the lighting fixture attached into the canopy, shattering the bulb. By the time all was said and done, he cost me a new overflow, tank glass replacement and a 24" fluorescent bulb. A total of $260.

2 months later... he slammed the bottom portion of the back of the tank and caused a hair-line fracture. It is how he ended up in a new 195 gallon tank home.

i have a 15lb rock in my 150 with my 18" RTC that ends up in the middle of the tank every morning. i've seem him move it, impressive but i'm probably going to remove it before he breaks the glass....lol

As I was reading this, I was thinking, you should probably take that outa there before he breaks the glass.

Hmmm... If I move this here, that there, take this to
storage, and slide this over about 7inches... I could set up another tank right here!!!

sorry could not resist adding to your "REMODELING" ... we have removed 2 walls working on a third now, I mean who really needs a bathroom right? Glass the whole dern thing in. drain in the floor and spigots to refill, filter under the house. Voila!

I like your thinking!!!! LOL. Just wish I was more of a carpenter.

my RTCxTSN is 5"ish and is able to move around a piece of bogwood(3lbs)

when i put earthworms he is able to lift
the bogwood and swim to get the worm

Anybody got any new ones, mine are just doin the norm. Moving stuff around and redecorating the tank like they like it. My channels thought my floor was to dry today so they added some more water to my carpet for me.

My 16" RTC will tear my filter intake apart and swim around with the pieces. It also broke one of my glass heaters Lucky for me it failed of and didn't shock him or burn him to death; the water just got really cold.

Mine stays away from anything that hangs in the tank... I made a point of making him nervous around them...chased him with the heater when he was smaller... seems to have sunkin cause he doesn't bother them at all...(mine is rubber coated anyway though so I'm not worried about him breaking it)

Sometimes I think that one day he'll snap and thrash it around the tank for awhile... but only time will tell

One of my RTC's ate a possum that tried to drink from the pond.

That would have been awesome to catch on tape... Where you hand feeding him at the time?

whole fish from the market! but i was feeding the other RTC....the bigger RTC caught me by surprise and pulled me in from the other side...he got a bit of a shock wen he realised that he bit off more than he cud chew!!! luckily his spikes didnt stab me wen he dashed away....
