ask johnptc or arapaimaguy, tlkmnd, necro. they'll give you your 5 feet. and even 3 feet is way bigger than most of us can care for. I'm an a-hole since I keep a tsn in my 300, you on the other hand actually recommends a guy who is already severly overstocked (given those fish reach adulthood) to get a freakin RTC. The same guy who wants to buy a finch just to feed his aro?

and even IF you were partially right? have you seen an RTC maxing out below 30"? his tank is 2 feet? please do explain how you got this to add up? Everyone says they will upgrade. but money and space is a constant issue.

for your question OP, I'd get some sort of bichir, maybe an endli, or ornate, looks good, will get you a good amount of money back if you decide to sell it. bichirs are always fat even if you fed 3 days ago, they always find something edable.

but if you really want a cat, go something along the lines of clarias batrachus, they eat everything. and if you are in the states try a jur or lima, tig is pretty (and) expensive.
dude it was just a suggestion. here u are acting like the world is gonna end. why do people like u love to argue?

some pet stores sell baby 3inch red tail catfish. they dont grow that fast, people exaggerate too much about their features.

BULL SHIBBY!!!!!!!!!! if your rtc or someone you know's rtc isnt growing around 2 inches per month and it is still under 24" long then it is stunted. either poor water quality or diet. there is no ifs ands or buts about how fast rtc and rtc hybrids grow. it is never recommended to attempt to house a rtc in a 180 for more than 8-9 months as a grow out.

go with 2-3 lima shovelnose cats, perfect for your 180 and they will make sure no food gets left on the bottom of your tank.

edit: other recommendations from experience, 4 line pim or a black shark (awesome cleaner).

You do know how big those fish (ck and gar) get, right? Delhezi looks like a good plan, but I don't know how well the wolf will like that idea.

agree on the ck large size but the gar will only max about 20-24" and it takes a good long time to get there so it will be fine in a 180 for a good 10 years.
