Looks like a warmouth to me.. They are all over here in michigan. I have one in my tank. For it's size -- It's a mean lil sucker... My big Ck's don't mess with him..
Definitely green sunfish, IMO. Warmouths have huge mouths, even bigger than green sunfish. And the warmouth doesn't have those little green/blue lines around their head.
To me, warmouth look like a bluegill/crappie hybrid, if such a thing could exist. Mottled pattern and huge mouth like a crappie, with the shape and coloring of a bluegill/sunfish.
Pretty fish though - some of the adult green sunfish get some great coloring. I believe they're actually invasive here in North Carolina, and have found a niche in really small streams where there aren't as many predators, and very few competitors for their food supply. They tend to take over the small streams and eliminate quite a few of the natives by eating young fish. In larger streams, they don't do quite as well, as they're not as good at avoiding predators as the bluegill and other native species are.
If you want to catch these size fish on a regular basis, try using a real small hook - like a #10 single egg hook - and bait them with one of the Berkley Crappie Nibbles. Or if you really want to have fun, get a small sabiki rig (if they're alllowed where you're at), bait the hooks with the nibbles, and you can catch 2 or 3 at a time.
Nice greens. Some lakes around here are chock full of them to the point that you can't go more than a couple casts without hooking one. Seems like in certain places they just take over.
